Birmingham City Council is seeking a dynamic and driven Operations Lead to take strategic and operational ownership of the city’s most valued outdoor spaces. - Proven experience in operations, ideally within grounds maintenance or outdoor environments
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
- Understanding of health & safety, risk management, and compliance
- Experience in financial management, resource planning, and performance monitoring
- A customer-focused mindset with a passion for high-quality service delivery
- Excellent organisational and problem‑solving skills
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration abilities
- A proactive, hands‑on approach with resilience in a dynamic environment
You will have direct responsibility for Birmingham’s Destination Park, the Wildlife & Nature Conservation Centre, and Plant Nurseries, ensuring high standards of service, sustainability, and visitor engagement.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead, inspire, and develop high-performing parks operations teams
- Oversee day‑to‑day running of destination parks, ensuring safe, efficient operations
- Drive exceptional visitor experiences and set standards for customer service
- Manage budgets, resources, and operational planning effectively
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners
- Identify opportunities for innovation, commercial growth, and continuous improvement
