City of Birmingham School is seeking an ambitious and inspirational Deputy Head of Campus (DHOC) for Grove Campus. This role is pivotal to the smooth running of the campus, supporting the day-to-day operations, leading behaviour oversight, contributing to curriculum development, and deputising for the Head of Campus where required.

This is an exciting time to join COBS as we continue our journey of improvement across all campuses. The successful applicant will play a key role in shaping the educational experience of our young people, many of whom have complex needs, ensuring they receive high-quality teaching, strong pastoral support and clear, consistent routines.

We believe that our pupils—despite their diverse experiences and challenges—can achieve the same qualifications and successes as their mainstream peers. We are looking for a DHOC who is committed to this vision and brings resilience, high expectations, and a solutions-focused approach.

As Birmingham LA’s Pupil Referral Unit, we work with permanently excluded pupils and those with a wide range of social, emotional and mental health needs. Our eight campuses across the city are staffed by dedicated teams who work collaboratively to support pupils with SEND, challenging behaviours and varied life experiences.

  • A forward-thinking school committed to continuous improvement
  • A welcoming, supportive working environment
  • Bi-weekly full day of PPA that can be taken from home – supplemented with additional PPA within a school week
  • Additional management time every week
  • Opportunities to take on wider leadership responsibilities
  • Access to high-quality professional development
  • The chance to make a significant impact on pupils’ lives

We welcome applications from outstanding practitioners who are passionate, resilient, strong team players, and committed to making a difference. DHOC posts are open to teachers from all subject backgrounds.
