Birmingham City Council is recruiting Casual Leisure Assistants for the Sport and Physical Activity service team. The role is casual and requires working as part of a team in a busy front-line service, prioritising customer needs, programmes, procedures and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment for staff and service users, complying with all relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation across all facilities.
  • Promote and support marketing campaigns and uphold the service’s brand.
  • Deliver excellent customer service in line with the Customer Charter.
  • Support the wellbeing of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
  • Carry out routine administrative tasks and other duties as required.
  • Evening and weekend work is required as part of the normal working pattern.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Both qualified and unqualified Leisure Assistants are welcome to apply.
  • Qualified candidates should possess a RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification and be able to supervise pools, maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, housekeeping, hygiene, security and safety.
  • Unqualified candidates must also ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, housekeeping, hygiene, security and safety of the facilities.
