Birmingham City Council’s Careline Service supports approximately 9,000 citizens across the city to live safely and independently in their own homes through technology-enabled care solutions.
About the role
This is a key leadership role within our frontline service. You will manage a team of 17 staff, including those working across a rolling shift pattern (12 hours 40 minutes) covering nights, weekends and bank holidays. Your duties will focus on ensuring a responsive, high-quality service that supports vulnerable citizens during emergencies and works to prevent escalation of risk.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage our 24/7 Assistive Technology Care environment
- Oversee the response to incoming alarm calls from citizens using mobile or home‑based assistive technology
- Ensure timely and appropriate emergency support and intervention
- Drive a proactive prevention approach, reducing repeat incidents through:
- Effective referrals
- Signposting to appropriate services
- Providing clear advice and reassurance
- Support, motivate and develop the team to maintain high performance and resilience in a fast‑paced environment
