This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in establishing Birmingham as one of the UK's foremost Nature Cities. As the UK's first accredited Nature City, Birmingham is delivering its ambitious City of Nature 25‑Year Plan, placing nature recovery, biodiversity enhancement and environmental resilience at the heart of the city's future.
The Role
- Identify, develop and deliver Biodiversity Net Gain receptor sites across the city.
- Establish and manage the Council’s role as a registered provider of Biodiversity Net Gain credits.
- Embed biodiversity, nature recovery and ecological enhancement within planning, development and land management processes.
- Lead and develop the Conservation and Woodland Management Team to deliver habitat creation, woodland management and biodiversity projects across parks and green spaces.
- Secure investment, develop partnerships and drive innovation in urban nature recovery.
- Support the delivery of Birmingham’s City of Nature 25‑Year Plan and wider biodiversity objectives.
