We are seeking an individual with experience working in a busy IT application support environment, ideally with NEC Housing and related systems. Experience within local government or a similarly complex organisation would be highly beneficial.

This role offers the opportunity to support Birmingham City Council’s Housing and Property applications, working closely with both technical and operational teams to deliver reliable and effective digital services.

As part of the Digital & Technology Services (DTS) Applications team, you will support a range of business‑critical systems, ensuring they remain stable, secure, and aligned with business needs. You will work within a live support environment, assisting with incident resolution, supporting system integrations, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the application estate.

Working closely with Senior Application Support Engineers, DTS colleagues, business stakeholders, and external suppliers, you will contribute to the ongoing development and resilience of services, ensuring they are well supported and capable of meeting future demands.

Main Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide application support for Housing and Property systems, including NEC Housing, Civica DM360 and associated platforms.
  • Diagnose and resolve application and integration issues, ensuring system stability, performance, and resilience.
  • Assist to support and maintain integrations between systems, including batch processing, data flows, and interface management.
  • Assist in troubleshooting high‑impact incidents supporting the Senior Application Support Engineer and Lead Application Support Engineer and act as a point of contact within the team.
  • Contribute to application upgrades, configuration changes, and continuous service improvement activities.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders, suppliers, and technical teams to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Support the development of internal capability by sharing knowledge and mentoring less experienced colleagues.
  • Ensure applications meet security, data protection, and audit requirements.
Who Should Apply
  • Proven experience supporting a large and complex IT application.
  • Hands‑on experience, including troubleshooting issues, an awareness of SQL and experience of system configuration.
  • Experience supporting integrated application landscapes.
  • Experience working with document management or workflow systems such as Civica DM360.
  • Ability to resolve issues and identify root causes in a live support environment.
  • Experience working with business stakeholders, understanding business requirements.
  • Able to communicate technical details to a non‑technical audience.
  • Able to work independently, prioritise effectively, and operate in a busy environment.
Desirable
  • Experience supporting Housing services.
  • Experience working within local government or a similarly complex organisation.
