About The Role
We are looking to recruit proactive and customer‑focused Allocations & Applications Officers to join our busy Housing Allocation & Application Service. You will be responsible for assessing housing applications, determining eligibility for the Housing Allocation Scheme, and matching customers to suitable properties. This is a rewarding role where you will make fair and lawful decisions that have a direct impact on people’s lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess housing applications in line with legislation and council policy.
- Determine eligibility and notify customers of decisions within required timescales.
- Manage shortlisting, allocation and matching of properties.
- Carry out investigations and background checks to support decision‐making.
- Maintain accurate case records in line with data protection requirements.
- Provide advice and guidance to customers and stakeholders.
- Support vulnerable customers and make appropriate referrals to partner agencies.
- Review and approve property adverts.
- Contribute to case preparation for reviews and legal proceedings.
About You
- Experience in housing or a similar customer‑facing role.
- Able to manage complex and sensitive situations.
- Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Confident using IT systems and databases.
