About The Role
Birmingham City Council are seeking a highly organised and motivated Acquisitions Project Assistant to support the delivery of its residential acquisitions programme. The Council launched its Acquisitions Strategy in November 2025, playing a vital role in securing a greater number of affordable housing in the city. This includes purchasing new build homes, large blocks and street properties to meet the needs of families in Birmingham on a low income. The types of homes we bring into the portfolio plays a big part in determining what type of landlord the Council will be. We are looking for someone who is genuinely resident focused and understands the role social housing plays in re‑building people’s lives. Ideally, the successful candidate will have a keen interest in property, finance or economics and a commercial awareness to ensure properties brought into the portfolio are value for money and right for the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in helping the Council expand its housing portfolio. You will support project managers in coordinating acquisitions activity across the city, ensuring that key milestones are achieved and new assets are brought forward efficiently and effectively.
This is a hybrid role, and on‑site attendance is subject to service need.

- Work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure delivery outcomes are met.
- Support governance processes for residential acquisitions.
- Assist with procurement processes for external consultants and service providers.
- Track project plans to ensure assets are delivered within agreed timelines.
- Contribute to reports for senior officers and elected Members.
- Liaise with commercial partners and stakeholders to identify suitable acquisition opportunities.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Experience
- Experience providing project support within a complex environment.
