River View Primary and Nursery School, located at the heart of Stapenhill in Burton on Trent, is a two-form entry school with a nursery and specialist SEND hub on site.

We are looking to appoint a committed and passionate Assistant SENCO/Teacher of SEND to join our welcoming and inclusive school community. Following a highly positive Ofsted inspection which praised our inclusive ethos, high expectations and exceptional pastoral care, this is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic practitioner dedicated to improving outcomes for pupils with SEND.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will support the SENCO in the strategic leadership and day‑to‑day coordination of SEND provision, deliver high‑quality inclusive teaching and targeted interventions, work closely with families and external agencies, and contribute to EHCP processes. You will join a supportive and collaborative team who value inclusion and the holistic development of every child.

Qualifications
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Has a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
  • Has experience supporting pupils with a range of additional needs
  • Is an effective communicator and team player
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting pupils’ wellbeing
  • Is willing to support the ethos of the school
Desirable:
  • NASENCO qualification (or willingness to undertake)
  • Experience of EHCPs, external agencies, or SEND leadership
