City of Wolverhampton Council is looking for an Apprentice to promote and support the work and services of the Revenue and Benefits team. The role of the Assessment and Recovery Apprentice is to assist in ensuring we pay the right benefit to the right person at the right time, collect the right amount from the right person at the right time, and undertake effective and appropriate debt recovery for the Council.

This apprenticeship opportunity provides experience in administering accounts, advising customers on welfare benefits, and the collection of debt owed to the Council. The successful candidate should have excellent customer service and organizational skills and be confident and clear in both written and verbal communication.

We are seeking a flexible and committed individual who has excellent communication skills, attention to detail and a commitment to completing the apprenticeship training. The successful candidate will work in a busy team with a varied workload.

Position details

  • Fixed term contract for 24 months
  • Salary: £24,735 (per annum)
  • Hours: 37 per week
  • Contract type: Full Time
  • Work Style: Flexible - a mixture of home and office working to meet the needs of the business

Responsibilities

The apprentice will promote and support the work and services of the Revenue and Benefits team and assist in ensuring correct benefit payments and debt recovery for the Council. The apprentice will receive on‑the‑job training and complete a Level 4 Revenues and Welfare Benefits Practitioner Apprenticeship.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Excellent customer service and organisational skills; clear written and verbal communication
  • Flexible, committed, with attention to detail; able to work in a busy team
  • Mandatory English and mathematics qualifications; check essential criteria in the role profile
  • Non-UK Nationals: must have resided in the UK for the last three years
  • If applicable, provide an ENIC certificate for overseas maths/English qualifications
  • Check essential criteria and provide achieved grades in the application
