Overview

Horton Lodge Special School is looking for enthusiastic Ancillary Assistants to join our team.

We require:

  • X1 Ancillary Assistant for 15 hours per week to support swimming each Wednesday morning 09:30-11:30 and to support a class all day Thursday and Friday 08:45-15:45.
  • X3 Ancillary Assistants for 10 hours per week to support lunch time each day, Monday to Friday 11:30-13:30.

The successful candidates will be:

  • Friendly, organised, and proactive
  • Experienced in working with or caring for children of primary school age (or willingness to learn)
  • Confident and approachable with strong communication skills
  • Able to relate well to both children and adults
  • Be adaptable, willing to take on a variety of tasks and eager to learn

Responsibilities

  • Work under the direct instruction of teaching staff, providing essential support to the pupils.
  • Play a key role in ensuring a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for pupils with diverse needs.
  • Encourage interaction and engagement in all school activities.
  • Assist children with personal, health and self-help needs.
  • Supervise and support pupils, ensuring safety.
  • Help prepare and maintain environments and displays.
  • Support teachers with pupil record-keeping and administrative tasks.
  • Prepare and maintain learning resources and general equipment.
  • Participate in training sessions and professional development.
  • Maintain cleanliness.

  • Experience in working with or caring for children of primary school age (or willingness to learn).
  • Friendly, organised, and proactive approach.
  • Confident and approachable with strong communication skills.
  • Able to relate well to both children and adults.
