This permanent Advanced Social Work Practitioner role is within the well-established Children in Care service, specifically Children in Care Team 4. The role focuses on providing high‑quality social work practice for children who need the most support, and on sharing expertise through modelling, coaching, reflective supervision, and other learning activities.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with children in care to support their wellbeing and achieve the best outcomes.
  • Provide reflective supervision and coaching to other social workers, students and ASYE social workers.
  • Model relational practice and contribute to the development of exemplary social work practice within the service.
  • Support and challenge colleagues and families to create positive change.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning and knowledge sharing with the team.

Qualifications

  • Registered social worker with substantial experience in statutory social work settings.
  • Experience working with children and families, particularly children in care.
  • Strong skills in reunification, pathway planning, adoption and permanency planning for children and young people.
  • Experience supporting others in a social work or social care role, including practice education of students or ASYE social workers.
  • Dynamic, driven, and capable of achieving strong outcomes for children in care.
  • Ability to provide support and challenge to colleagues and families, fostering positive change.
