Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, Sandwell, offers an exciting opportunity to join the Safeguarding Team in Sandwell, Adult Social Care. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual who will help shape our safeguarding service.
Supervision and the development of team members; including students, apprentices and newly qualified social workers is central to the values and expectations of an Advanced Practitioner. The post holder will work to deliver a high-quality adult safeguarding service and participate in complex safeguarding decisions.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality assurance for all allocated safeguarding work, including oversight of work undertaken by provider organisations and partner agencies.
- Supervise staff, providers and other agencies to undertake tasks to safeguard the people of Sandwell.
- Record decisions in line with policy and chair adult safeguarding meetings.
- Advise and provide direction in accordance with the Pan West Midlands Adult Protection Policy and local procedures.
- Operate in an outcome-focused manner that places the person at risk of abuse at the centre in line with Making Safeguarding Personal.
- Apply professional experience and judgement to recommend actions to reduce risk and minimise re-occurrence of concerns.
- Demonstrate strong legal literacy in respect of the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005; manage conflict and respond effectively to challenge.
Qualifications
- Social Work, Dip HE SW, CQSW or equivalent.
- Enhanced DBS with Children & Adults barring check required.

Hours: 37 hours per week.
