About Us & The Role
At Race Leys Infant School, we cater for children from 4 years to 7 years. We are a happy, forward‑thinking school, passionate about ensuring all children have access to the highest quality education in a safe and stimulating environment. We are seeking an organised, efficient, and approachable individual to join our dedicated admin team. The Administrative Assistant is a vital member of our school community, providing day‑to‑day administrative support to staff, students, and parents, and helping to ensure that the school operates efficiently and effectively. You will be responsible for supporting the administrative, financial and organisational processes within the school, reporting to the School Business Manager. You will also act as the initial point of contact for parents, visitors and other stakeholders so will be an ambassador for the school and embody the value, vision and ethos of the school in all interactions.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 1.30pm – 3.30pm. Term‑time contract only, plus 5 teacher training days per year (39 weeks in total).
Key Responsibilities
- Providing a professional and friendly first point of contact for visitors, parents, and staff
- Managing phone calls, emails, and general enquiries
- Maintaining accurate records, databases, and filing systems
- Supporting with pupil data entry, attendance, and communication home
- Assisting with the preparation of letters, reports, and school correspondence
- Helping to coordinate school events and activities
- Providing general administrative support to the senior leadership of the school
The Successful Candidate Will
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Be highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Be confident using Microsoft Office and data management systems
- Show initiative, flexibility, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Uphold safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection procedures at all times
- Work flexibly as part of the school office team to support the smooth running of the school
- Have previous experience in an administrative or school-based role (desirable but not essential)
