DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and deliver high-quality, industry-focused research in supply chain management, with a focus on resilience, transparency, supply risk, and digitalisation.
- Design and develop innovative, data-driven solutions, tools, and frameworks to address complex supply chain challenges in collaboration with industry partners.
- Conduct in-depth qualitative and quantitative analysis, including business continuity planning, supplier risk escalation, risk assessment, and performance evaluation.
- Produce high-impact research outputs, including publications in leading academic journals (e.g., IJOPM, POM) and industry facing reports.
- Engage proactively with internal and external stakeholders, including industry partners, policymakers, and academic collaborators, to co-create impactful research.
- Support the development of new research proposals, funding applications, and industry-funded projects to grow the Supply Chain Innovation Hub portfolio.
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and stakeholder consultations to gather insights and validate research findings.
- Translate research insights into practical recommendations and actionable strategies for industry implementation.
- Contribute to the development of thought leadership, including white papers, presentations, and dissemination at leading conferences and industry forums.
- Support and mentor junior researchers, research assistants, and PhD students where appropriate.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams within WMG and the wider University to deliver integrated research outcomes.
- Ensure effective project management, including planning, delivery, reporting, and stakeholder communication.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- A PhD in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, OR a closely related discipline, or equivalent industry/research experience.
- Proven experience in supply chain research and/or industry practice, with a focus on areas such as resilience, risk management, transparency, or digitalisation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in qualitative and/or quantitative research methods and data analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality research outputs, with a track record (or clear potential) for publication in leading academic journals.
- Experience of working with industry partners and delivering applied, impact-driven projects.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analysis into actionable insights.
- Experience in developing research proposals and contributing to funding applications is desirable.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to deadlines.
- Experience in facilitating workshops, interviews, and stakeholder consultations is desirable.
- Knowledge of digital tools, data analytics, or supply chain technologies (e.g., AI, data platforms) is advantageous.
