Job Purpose
The role of the Nursery Manager is to provide professional leadership and management of the nursery and its staff, and to successfully manage the day to day running of the nursery and deliver high quality standards of care and education for all children. Ensuring that the children are happy in a safe, fun and stimulating environment.
REPORTS TO: Area Manager, Nursery Director, and Franchise Director
DEPARTMENTS: Safety, Quality, Budgets, Performance and Customer Service

Aims

Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures
- Ensure that all company policies and procedures are adhered to by all staff
- Promote a high standard of quality within the nursery, including practice, environment and resources to meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage and Development Matters
- Ensure appropriate planning and assessment is in place and is accurately maintained by all staff
- Support the development of good practice in relation to special educational needs and inclusion
- Provide leadership and support to all staff to enable them to establish and maintain professional positive working relationships with colleagues, parents and carers
- Deploy staff effectively to ensure the required standards are maintained
- Ensure the effective implementation of the companys keyperson system throughout the nursery
- Ensure that all children are kept safe and that staff are confident to follow safeguarding procedures
- Implement and support others in delivering the EYFS in line with current practice and guidelines
- Develop and maintain professional working relationships with relevant outside agencies
- Create and maintain a culture of self-evaluation and reflective practice throughout the nursery
- Proactively promote and represent the nursery to current and potential parents/customers including in the wider community
- Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures and be responsible for ensuring all staff receive health and safety training
- Be fully aware of all emergency and security procedures
- Be responsible for ensuring the nursery remains compliant in respect of suitably trained and vetted staff with relevant qualifications. Ensure training matrix is upto date with statutory training.
- Recruit, induct, support, train and appraise all staff to deliver high quality childcare practice
- Identify, address, and support individual training needs and self-development such as supervisions and appraisals.
- Work in conjunction with the Area Manager, Nursery Director and Franchise Director in disciplinary and grievance investigations and hearings
- Be responsible for making sure all complaints/concerns are actively resolved in a timely manner
- Manage staff and running costs
- Facilitate inspections by regulatory bodies and implement any recommendations
- Be responsible for all administrative duties associated with the nursery, including maintaining childrens records, ordering equipment, and keeping personnel files. Publish all I-Connect observations and assessments.
- Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by the area manager
Education or Qualifications required
- A recognised Qualification in Childcare or Early Years minimum Level 3
- A Foundation Degree or BA Honours in Early Years with at least 2 years management experience

Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure all children in the setting are happy
- Be responsible for leading and developing a staff team
- Monitor nursery numbers and knowing child place availability
- Register new children into the setting, giving them a full induction, showing them around the setting and ensuring the child settles in
- Ensure staff are creating individual learning journeys to record and evaluate their key groups learning, development and progress
- Ensure you work in partnership with the settings SENCO
- Ensure the setting is free from discrimination
- Plan and organise events in the setting ensuring the smooth operation incorporating all religious festivals
- Plan and organise charity days and events
- Understand and implement the settings policies and procedures and review these annually or as needed
- Ensure all children are continuously stimulated and a range of activities are provided for all the children, ensuring that they reach their full potential
- Ensure you are a good role model for staff, children, students, and any volunteers in the nursery
- Give full inductions to new employees or students in the setting
- Support and supervise apprentice in the setting and offer your knowledge and expertise in their learning process
- To share in the responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children in the nursery, ensure all safeguarding concerns are reported
- Cover in room as needed
- Give first aid as required
- Ensure health and safety requirements are met and maintained

- Ensure the high standards of the nursery are met at all times
