Job Overview
The Room Leader provides professional leadership to the team during a busy day within the nursery, ensuring high-quality care, education, and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Key Aims
- Ensure full regulatory compliance.
- Deliver outstanding care and education.
- Support, develop, and manage nursery staff under rota/your control.
- Build positive relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- You are able to ensure the safety and welfare of children through a confident knowledge of safeguarding processes and procedures.
- You are able to implement the EYFS with a good understanding of child development.
- You will be able to support all nursery staff in their roles, leading them to deliver outstanding childcare.
- You are a strong communicator with both adults and children.
- You are able to work well within a team.
- You recognise when to report issues of concern to a senior team member or relevant services.
- You are able to work in partnership with parents and our partners to ensure our children thrive.
- You always maintain a positive attitude with children, parents, colleagues and visitors.

Qualifications
- Minimum Level 3 Early Years qualification (full and relevant).
- Designated Safeguarding Lead qualification.
- Safer Recruitment training.
- Paediatric First Aid certification.
- Food Hygiene Level 2.

- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Excellent organisational, planning, and IT skills.
- Ability to recruit, develop, motivate, and support staff.
- Strong record-keeping, report writing, and observational skills.
- Ability to manage priorities, maintain confidentiality, and work effectively with parents and external agencies.
- Confidence in supporting children with SEND.
- Knowledge
- Thorough understanding of the EYFS and current inspection framework.
- Excellent knowledge of safeguarding, child welfare, health and safety, and hygiene requirements.
