The Engineer Packaging Ice Cream is a pivotal role within the European R&D Ice Cream organization, dedicated to creating innovative, high-quality packaging solutions that drive the growth of the Ice Cream portfolio across different formats. This role blends technical expertise, creative problem-solving, and developing packaging solutions. In addition, it leads regional value leadership, supply security, and sustainability initiatives, ensuring our packaging meets both business objectives and consumer expectations.
This position requires technical packaging skills to optimize current packaging (flexibles, paper, carton) and develop new solutions.
What are we looking for?
- Ideally, Systems Engineering or Engineering/Technology or a related Engineering degree
- Consistently meets or exceeds the standards and expectations of internal and external customers and consumers
- Manage scale-up risk and the introduction of technology into the supply chain
- Extensive experience in engineering technology development
- Demonstrated process and packaging science, packaging engineering, machine design development, and design through virtual prototyping methods
- We want someone who can work independently and be a team player
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Lead the design, development, and commercialization of packaging innovations, ensuring alignment with brand strategies and market needs.
- Translate consumer and market insights into practical, scalable packaging solutions.
- Ensure that the package development process is meeting agreed timelines and follows Design for Vertical Start-up (DfVS).
- Lead packaging sustainability agenda for Ice Cream cell in line with Mars Wrigley roadmap, connect with the regional sustainability team to ensure PPWR compliance of the Ice Cream portfolio.
- Ensure technical packaging designs meet brand quality standards (KQAs).
- Partner with R&D Factory Innovation, and External manufacturing peers to ensure packages developed can be scaled effectively within existing internal manufacturing technology capabilities and co-manufacturers.
- Work within cross-functional teams to ensure that desirability, feasibility, viability and sustainability are evaluated for all projects as part of the development process.
- Guarantee accuracy of packaging specifications to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and manufacturability.
- Apply robust quality performance measures and corrective actions to continuously improve packaging standards.
- Collaborate with regional and cross-functional teams to deliver technical elements of innovation and renovation projects.
