Working closely with stakeholders, you will embed sustainable practices into everyday decision-making and drive progress across key areas including decarbonisation, resource efficiency, biodiversity, social value, sustainable mobility and integrated transport.
You will use data, insights and industry best practice to identify opportunities for improvement, influence behavioural change, and enhance overall sustainability performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of sustainability programmes, projects and action plans that support the Company's environmental and social sustainability objectives.
- Coordinate the implementation of sustainability initiatives across multiple departments, ensuring alignment with business priorities and strategic commitments.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of Sustainability360 (culture of sustainability project) and other sustainability performance frameworks.
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement activities, building effective relationships with internal and external partners to deliver shared sustainability outcomes.
- Drive behavioural change, engagement and awareness initiatives to embed sustainability across the organisation.
- Support the delivery of social value programmes and community partnerships, maximising positive outcomes for customers, colleagues and local communities.
- Drive the delivery of the Company's environmental commitments, including Net Zero Carbon targets, emissions reduction programmes and circular economy initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for innovation, continuous improvement and best practice adoption across sustainability and environmental performance.
- Use industry tools, benchmarking and maturity assessments to evaluate performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Support the sustainability team in delivering departmental objectives, action plan commitments and wider directorate priorities.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Demonstrable experience working in a sustainability, environmental or ESG-related role
- Degree in Environmental Management, Sustainability, Geography, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience coordinating and delivering environmental, seamless journeys and social value projects, working with stakeholders across multiple functions.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience supporting change and behavioural engagement initiatives that drive environmental or sustainability improvements.
- Excellent communication skills with experience building relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools to manage, analyse and report performance information.
To ensure continuity and an effective delivery of service, successful candidates will be required to commit to a minimum 14-month period in role after achieving competence. This also includes existing colleagues who move by internal promotions and transfers.
