About Us: W M Donald Ltd are looking for a reliable Procurement Buyer Assistant. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the procurement function in delivering an efficient, cost-effective, and client-focused service by assisting in ensuring that all procured goods and services comply with legislation, company standards, and client specifications. Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the procurement team in sourcing materials, consumables, tools, and equipment.
- Assisting in requesting and collecting supplier quotations and pricing data.
- Maintaining accurate purchase order records and ensuring correct documentation.
- Helping update and manage supplier and subcontractor databases.
- Monitoring deliveries and following up with suppliers regarding lead times and order status.
- Supporting invoice reconciliation by checking prices, quantities, and resolving basic discrepancies.
- Assisting with preparation of tender documentation and supporting information.
- Helping set up new supplier accounts and supporting onboarding processes.
- Compiling procurement data and helping prepare reports on spend, savings, and supplier metrics.
- Conducting basic supplier research and gathering product information for review.
- Supporting stock level monitoring and ensuring timely ordering of recurring items.
- Assisting with warranty and re-hire supplier documentation and communication.
- Preparing paperwork and scheduling for supplier meetings and taking minutes when required.
- Helping ensure compliance with procurement procedures and approval requirements.
- Maintaining procurement files, records, and contract folders in an organized manner.
- Providing administrative support to the procurement manager and buyers as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential Requirements:
- Knowledge of supply chain activity
- Substantial experience in a purchasing environment preferably within the construction industry
- CSCS Card
- Full UK Driving Licence
- General IT literacy including Microsoft Office suite
