About the Role & Work-Life Balance:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a successful and motivated technician to join our latest MG retailer based in Upminster, Essex. We value our team's work-life balance! We have recently moved all our service departments to a FIVE-DAY WORKING WEEK (Monday – Friday, NO WEEKENDS), allowing a better work-life balance for all our service staff.

The ideal candidate will be apprenticeship-trained as a minimum to NVQ Level 3 and EV qualified (though EV training will be provided for the right candidate), ideally with suitable manufacturer workshop experience. Full manufacturer training will be provided for someone with the ambition to progress.

Day-to-Day Duties & Key Responsibilities:

  • Through diagnostic equipment and a systematic approach, ensure vehicle faults are diagnosed and rectified accurately.
  • Meet with customers to identify and clearly understand technical problems as and when required.
  • Ensure full understanding of the latest technology introduced across the MG vehicle range and how to diagnose/repair faults.
  • Carry out diagnosis, repairs, and servicing to the highest standards and appropriate manufacturer specifications.
  • Ensure all work is carried out observing safe working practices for yourself and colleagues.
  • Liaise with Service Advisors and workshop controllers to provide clear updates and job completion times.
  • Complete relevant service documentation (Job sheets, PDIs, health checks, service reports) in line with warranty and dealership requirements.
  • Perform routine vehicle servicing, maintenance, and road testing (including manual transmission).
  • Maintain workshop equipment and facilities to ensure functional longevity, safety, and high housekeeping standards.

Person Specification:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent apprenticeship qualification).
  • EV (Electric Vehicle) qualification preferred (training provided for right candidate).
  • Automotive repair experience (2 years preferred), ideally within a franchised dealership.
  • A full UK driving licence is essential.

Earnings: Competitive Basic Salary (Dependent on Experience) + Performance & Bonus Schemes
