We are recruiting for an experienced Production Engineer / CNC Programmer to join a skilled machine shop team based in Cirencester. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex, high-precision components across small batch, prototype and NPI projects. The role would suit someone with a strong CNC machining background who enjoys both offline programming and wider production engineering responsibilities.
The Role
As Production Engineer / CNC Programmer, you will be responsible for creating accurate CNC programs and supporting the wider manufacturing process. You will work closely with engineering, design, purchasing and production teams to ensure components are manufactured efficiently and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Create CNC programs using CAM software
- Produce accurate shop floor documentation and job packs
- Support NPI, prototype and small batch machining projects
- Programme complex, high-precision components
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T
- Support tooling selection, ordering and consumables
- Complete routings and manufacturing structures within the ERP system
- Work closely with design, engineering, purchasing and production teams
- Support process improvements across the machine shop
- Ensure manufacturing, tooling and programming information is properly controlled
The Person
The successful candidate will have a strong CNC programming / machining background and be confident working in a busy precision engineering environment.
You will need:
- CNC programming / CAM programming experience
- Experience using CAM software such as HyperMILL or similar
- Strong machining background across precision engineering, small batch or NPI work
- Experience programming complex components
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Good understanding of GD&T
- Strong attention to detail and good IT skills
- Experience with ERP systems, routings or job packs would be advantageous
- 5-axis programming experience would be highly advantageous
