The Company: Duffields South West is a family-owned animal feed manufacturing business based in Yeovil, supplying customers across the South West.
The Role: Duffields South West are looking for a Raw Material Planning Assistant to join the procurement team, based at Yeovil. The successful candidate will work to plan and co-ordinate the intake of raw materials into the mills, as well as direct-to-farm deliveries, liaising with suppliers, hauliers, transport and production teams to ensure stock levels and delivery schedules are maintained. The role will also provide support with purchase ledger tasks and general sales administration where required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Raw Material Planning: Work within the procurement team to manage raw material contracts, plan intake schedules and co-ordinate deliveries in line with production requirements. Liaise closely with suppliers, hauliers, transport and production to ensure raw material stocks are sufficient, delivered within the contractual period and managed efficiently to avoid shortages, delays or additional charges. Monitor stock levels, update planning records and communicate any supply risks or changes to the Buyer in a timely manner.
- Sales Assistant: Receive and process orders from customers and sales team and assist with office duties.
- Purchase ledger: Process invoices and investigate any queries to conclusion.
Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience in planning, procurement, stock control, logistics or a similar administrative role is desirable.
- Ability to work accurately with schedules, stock information and supplier communications.
- Good written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
- Good IT skills in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Must be active, self-motivated with attention to detail and an ability to multi-task is desirable.
