Overview
We are looking to recruit a Transport Manager to manage our transportation operations at our Yeovil site. This role requires leadership and collaboration skills, excellent organisational abilities, and a commitment to maintaining high standards. Full time permanent position working Monday to Friday 50 hours per week with occasional overtime dependant on the needs of the business.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the transport department, working closely with the Group Transport Manager and Transport Planners to facilitate full compliance with all legal, safety, and company policies.
- Lead, motivate, and manage a team of drivers to deliver exceptional standards of performance and customer service.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods.
- Maintain up-to-date records of transport activities, including vehicle schedules, maintenance, and route planning.
- Monitor and analyse transport performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Manage vehicle compliance including MOTs, PMIs, servicing, brake tests, tachograph calibrations, and tyre changes.
- Utilise TruTac software to monitor driver hours and manage infringements appropriately.
- Ensure all drivers receive appropriate training and company procedures are followed accordingly.
- Investigate road traffic accidents and incidents involving company vehicles.
- Liaise with customers to resolve transport-related issues and ensure satisfaction.
- Represent the transport department in meetings and provide regular updates to the Site Director and Group Transport Manager.
- Carry out inductions and ensure all new drivers are onboarded effectively.
- Any other duties delegated from time to time by the appropriate person.
Qualifications
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a diverse team.
- Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- High level of computer literacy to navigate various software systems effectively including Microsoft 365.
- Strong customer service orientation with a focus on delivering an on time in full approach.
- Current CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
