WKC is a management-owned, international environmental consultancy specialising in science-led environmental studies that support clients’ permitting, financing, and wider corporate objectives. Established over 15 years ago, WKC has grown from its origins in the UAE and South Africa to deliver projects across multiple regions and sectors. WKC’s UK business focuses on several specialist areas of environmental consultancy, working with clients both domestically and internationally. The UK team frequently collaborates with colleagues across other WKC offices, contributing to multi-disciplinary and multi-jurisdictional projects.

In addition to its consultancy work, WKC is the exclusive UK distributor for SoundPLAN, a world-leading environmental noise modelling software used extensively by professional acousticians, engineers, and environmental specialists. This role offers an opportunity to join WKC’s growing UK business in a varied and practical support position. The role has a primary focus on supporting the SoundPLAN software distribution and training function in the UK, alongside contributing to environmental consultancy projects.

WKC is seeking a full-time Acoustics and Software Engineer to support the technical, commercial, administrative, and customer-facing aspects of its SoundPLAN software business in the UK, while also working on technical delivery of environmental consultancy projects, primarily in noise. The successful candidate will act as a central point of contact for SoundPLAN-related enquiries, including software sales administration, training coordination, and ongoing customer support. The role will involve developing a technical working understanding of SoundPLAN, its applications, and the needs of its user base. In addition to the SoundPLAN-related responsibilities, the role will support delivery of environmental consultancy projects through proposal preparation, modelling, technical reporting, and the development of robust scientific conclusions.

This position is well suited to someone who is highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across software products, customers, and internal business processes. It offers exposure to both the commercial and consultancy sides of a specialist environmental business, with opportunities to develop technical and analytical skills, as well as administration, customer support, and professional services delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing SoundPLAN quotations, including calculation of module costs, license types (standalone, network, cloud), and Updates & Maintenance (U&M) renewals.
  • Issuing formal quotes and invoices to customers.
  • Processing incoming orders and coordinating license activation and delivery of SoundPLAN license keys.
  • Tracking payments and liaising with WKC accounts.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all software customers, licenses, and subscriptions.
  • Supporting marketing and business development activities (brochures, mailouts, lead lists, CRM).
  • Provide technical software support to new and existing SoundPLAN customers.
  • Involvement in the delivery of SoundPLAN noise related training.
  • Prepare and deliver environmental consultancy proposals and technical reports.
  • Conduct on-site baseline measurements.
  • Contribute to marketing and business development initiatives.

The candidate will have:

  • A BSc in a Scientific, Engineering or Acoustics related field.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
  • A high level of organisation, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • A collaborative mindset with a willingness to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
