Chief Commercial Officer (CCO)
Doncaster/South Yorkshire c £120k to c £140k pa plus STIP, stock options and benefits package plus relocation assistance if applicable. Our client is a niche high scale entrepreneurial start-up/SME with unique technology which will bring true innovation to the renewable energy and carbon reduction emissions industry. They are now in a position to significantly scale the organisation and ramp up production with the objective to become the leading developer and manufacturer of green hydrogen technologies.
Quite clearly this is an incredibly exciting time to be joining this organisation as they look to penetrate the substantial market opportunities within the industry. We are therefore looking to appoint an outstanding Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to what in reality should be a career defining opportunity for an ambitious and highly talented individual.
Responsibilities:
- This critical position demands an individual with the commercial acumen and intellectual horsepower to create innovative solutions and bring sustainable competitive advantage.
- As Chief Commercial Officer and part of the senior leadership team, you will report directly to the CEO in this high profile position. You will be required to raise the bar to achieve substantial growth and profitability and to drive the business to maximise its true potential.
- You will have full commercial P&L accountability for the business globally and will develop and implement the strategic commercial plan ensuring the business offer is highly relevant.
- You will manage the entirety of the sales process from segmentation and target identification through to opportunity closure and hence, will be responsible for all commercial and licensing agreements business development, sales execution, key account management and marketing activities whilst facilitating expansion into new markets worldwide.
- You will understand the value drivers of the business and identify profitable and commercial opportunities to grow revenue and market share through new products and the extension of services with a significant focus on under-penetrated markets.
- You will provide strategic support in order to execute the go-to-market strategy and will create, formulate and execute an innovative and dynamic commercial plan in order to lead market diversification and expansion.
- You will lead the commercial team and will review and re-align the sales and commercial plan in line with market demands ensuring the business can respond to market opportunities in order to increase profitability.

- This unique position demands an exceptional individual who enjoys a highly visible role in a rapidly growing and agile marketplace.
- Commercial in nature with the ability to operate in both a hands-on and strategic capacity, you will understand the demands and drivers required to initiate high impact and credible commercial strategies for the organisation.
- Ideally degree qualified in an engineering discipline, the successful candidate will have extensive commercial, sales and marketing expertise gained within a highly complex B2B environment, where you will be well versed in commercial activities linked to tenders, bids, licensing agreements and contract management.
- As such, you are likely to have significant expertise within a range of B2B industries where you are used to an environment which is fundamentally biased towards growth and scale rather than the status quo, i.e., defining what the future looks like.
- Consequently, you will most likely have been supplying a range of products/capital equipment and services into the oil and gas, renewable, windfarm, chemical, power, rail and automotive/aeronautical sectors. Alternatively, you may also be working within an engineering/technology consultancy.
- Intellectually powerful and action oriented, you will have outstanding commercial acumen and the passion and charisma to influence those around you and will be distinguished by your ability to achieve major breakthroughs in business performance.
