Position Overview
Opportunity within our Community Development & Wellbeing team for a Nursery Practitioner. The Nursery Practitioner will deliver a nursery service on behalf of Poplar HARCA, ensuring a full programme of activities is available to the children in care and that all statutory and best practice childcare and safeguarding practices, policies and procedures are adhered to.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate with parents and carers in a positive and constructive manner and encourage parental involvement.
- Provide a high standard of care and education.
- Maintain a positive attitude towards diversity, disability and behavioural management.
- Offer a full programme of activities at each session, planning carefully and involving other staff, trainees and volunteers to develop each child’s potential.
- Have a working knowledge of first aid and health & safety procedures and apply them appropriately.
- Setting up, lifting and storing heavy equipment is required.
- Maintain records in line with Poplar HARCA, local authority or Government guidelines (attendance, accident and incident books, children’s records).
- Ensure the continual development of the nursery in line with national and local requirements and policies.
Qualifications & Requirements
Employment in this role is dependent on an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Additional checking against the Children’s Barred List is required.
