The core purpose of this job function is to work as a Fabricator Fitter in a state‑of‑the‑art facility as part of a dedicated team to manufacture equipment for the defense industry.
This is an opportunity to join a world‑class organisation, delivering a secured long‑term contract to the MOD.
Operators will be required to use jigs and fixtures to manufacture components complying with engineering drawings and work instructions.
Key duties include, but are not limited to
- Comply with the Environmental, Health and Safety Policy and identify health and safety hazards prior to the commencement of work.
- Fit/fabricate aluminium material using jigs and fixtures in line with fabrication procedures.
- Report via approved Maintenance Reporting Procedures any equipment fault or unusual occurrence.
- Use drawings, work instructions to complete all tasks and ensure, through visual / non‑destructive inspection, that the fabricated component conforms to the drawing.
- Use hand tools and the appropriate measuring instruments to the task.
- Complete European qualification of welder approval tests on a regular basis.
- Ensure their personal safety and the safety of all other employees is not compromised by their actions and apply all applicable safety requirements to comply with the regulatory agencies.
- Book hours performing duties on a MRP (Materials Requirements Planning) system, SAP.
What we’re looking for
We need you to have completed a Recognised Time Served Apprenticeship in a relevant discipline and to have completed an NVQ Level 3 in a relevant discipline or equivalent.
We need you to have previous experience of practical fitting in a heavy manufacturing or fabrication environment.
