We currently have an opportunity for a conscientious and enthusiastic individual to join the Reading Workshop as a HGV Mechanic. This is a contract position (within IR35).

Reporting to the Workshop Controller, the main job function will be to undertake maintenance and repair activities on commercial vehicles to diagnose faults, carry out tests and complete repairs.

Other duties within the role will include

  • Ensure inspections are completed to a high standard.
  • Pre MOT checking of HGV’s prior to presentation.
  • Completing paperwork and procedures relating to compliance, warranty, contract & retail work.
  • Preventative maintenance work to minimise unnecessary customer costs.

Any other duties reasonably within your capabilities as instructed by their Manager.

  • The successful candidate will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
  • Must be a “Time Served” technician or obtained a City & Guilds levels, 1, 2 & 3 or other adequate qualifications
  • Have previous experience in MOT preparation and truck defect work.
  • Organised and methodical approach to problem solving with attention to detail.
  • Body repair experience for minor truck damage would be advantageous.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and the ability to complete relevant written documentation
  • A friendly, confident and professional manner with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a larger team as well as on their own initiative.
