This is a hands-on technical role suited to candidates with established industry experience who thrive in a dynamic commercial environment where no two days are the same. You will be responsible for producing high-accuracy production drawings and ensuring every modular unit is engineered for seamless assembly.

Key Tasks

  • Technical Drafting: Use commercial CAD software (AutoCAD or similar) to produce detailed 2D and 3D production-ready drawings, including layouts, elevations, and structural connection details.
  • Production Support: Translate design specifications into practical “build packs” for the factory floor, ensuring all components meet strict tolerances (±5mm).

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with UK Building Regulations and commercial health and safety standards.
  • Problem Solving: Actively troubleshoot design or manufacturing issues in real-time to prevent production delays, maintaining a flexible approach to changing priorities.
  • Support and Developing: Support the development and refinement of modular building systems, ensuring designs consider manufacturing, transportation and installation requirements.

Key Objective

  • To ensure modular building designs are practical, compliant and suitable for efficient manufacture.
  • To support the timely delivery of projects through effective coordination and technical problem-solving.
  • To contribute to continuous improvement in product design, manufacturing processes and technical standards.

Industry Experience: Proven experience within a commercial construction, manufacturing, modular construction, or technical design environment. This role is suited to candidates with established industry experience who can demonstrate sound technical knowledge and the ability to work independently.

Modular Expertise: Preference for experience of modular or off-site construction methods, including how individual units connect and the logistical constraints of transport and installation.

Software Proficiency: Proficient in the use of commercial CAD software and a high level of literacy in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel for data management).

Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to work, with a track record of delivering “right-first-time” technical packages in a fast-paced setting.

Flexibility: The ability to switch between different projects and tasks as manufacturing schedules shift.

Qualifications: Foundation Degree, HND, or Honours Degree in Architectural Technology, Construction, or Built Environment.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (flextime available) 30-minute lunch break.
