HGV Vehicle Body Builder Electrical Fitter/Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Design and install electrical systems, such as lighting, control panels, and wiring harnesses, for HGV bodies (trailers, cargo compartments, etc.).
- Ensure compatibility between the vehicle’s chassis and body regarding electrical system cross-over.
- Work with custom specifications to integrate features like power outlets, sensors, ancillary equipment, interior/exterior lighting & vehicle body modifications.
- Diagnose and repair faults in existing electrical systems within HGV body builds, ensuring that wiring and systems work safely and efficiently.
- Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems, checking for faults in wiring, switches, or control units. Conduct inspections and tests to verify that all electrical installations meet the regulatory requirements for commercial vehicles.
- Work with specialised electrical systems, such as electric controlled hydraulic/pneumatic control systems, including whole vehicle equipment control platforms (Go112/Polaris).
- Be involved in final Post Paint Assembly of equipment.
Qualifications:
- Self-motivated
- A good time keeper
- Must have a good understanding of plant and vehicle electrical systems
- Must have demonstrable experience in manufacturing and HGV Body Electrical Fitting/Engineering
- Be a good team player
- Willing to undertake other duties as and where required
- Good practical ability working to a high standard for new electrical installations
- Knowledge of electronic central units would be an advantage but not essential – Go112/Polaris
- Ideally, you will hold a full UK Driving Licence (not essential)
Working Hours:
Working hours are 8am to 5pm with a 30-minute lunch break, 2 x 15min morning/afternoon breaks, and overtime will be available and required occasionally depending on current workloads and targets.
