Trainee Geo‑Environmental Technician

SALARY

SALARY: ÂŁ26,520 per annum / ÂŁ12.75 per hour + Vehicle + Generous Benefits (see below)

KEY ROLE OBJECTIVE

The principal functions of this position are to assist in carrying out environmental/geotechnical monitoring and sampling alongside administrative and reporting duties.

REPORTS TO

Project Manager – Monitoring & Technical (Line Manager)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend site to obtain groundwater and surface water samples.
  • Liaise with third parties to arrange site access.
  • Coordinate with testing laboratories to arrange sample testing and delivery of consumables.
  • Manage data from laboratories.
  • Support geo‑technical monitoring activities associated with our works.
  • Communicate with clients.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • No formal qualifications or experience required – a motivated, hardworking individual with a “get stuck in” attitude is essential.
  • Interest in environmental monitoring and earth sciences.
  • Computer skills: email, MS Word, and Excel.
  • Valid UK driving licence (vehicle will be provided).
  • Awareness of geotechnical sampling and testing is not required but considered an asset.
  • Site experience useful but not essential.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Resourcefulness, initiative, and the ability to work unsupervised.
  • Problem‑solving skills and a practical mindset.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work involves travel across an 80 km stretch between Aylesbury and Royal Leamington Spa, with occasional visits to other UK sites. Flexibility to travel throughout the UK is beneficial.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physically demanding role requiring carrying equipment and sampling containers over short distances, often in outdoor environments under all weather conditions.
