Base pay range
This role is primarily site-based, with operations across the UK. The position may be based out of our Kings Langley, Hertfordshire office or Bilsthorpe, Nottingham office and yard depending on the closest office.
Key role objective
The primary purpose of this role is to serve as the central link between the design and installation teams, ensuring the effective implementation of dewatering and monitoring schemes. The postholder will act as the team leader and main point of contact for clients, facilitating clear communication and successful project delivery.
WJ Groundwater is committed to the ongoing development of its employees. A comprehensive training and development programme will be provided following the successful completion of the probationary period. This includes a company induction, initial basic training, and the issue of personal protective equipment (PPE) from the start of employment.

Operations Manager and their Drilling & Yard Managers and Project Managers, HR Manager and their admin support team, UK Managing Director and WJ Group Chief Operations Officer (Coaching & Mentorship)
Key areas of responsibility
Oversee project engineering and on-site supervision activities.
- Including drilling, pumping tests, Instrumentation, monitoring, water treatment, and water management systems (groundwater & surface water).
- Liaise effectively with clients site teams, supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution.
- Maintain high-quality documentation of WJ’s contractual activities including accurate collection, collation, and presentation of data.
- Support the Senior Project Manager with project delivery, including drafting progress reports and contributing to team meetings.
- Prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments, working drawings and procedures.
- Brief site teams, and specialist subcontractors to ensure clear understanding of scope and requirements.
- Assist Senior Project Manager with project programme administration, helping ensure project milestones are achieved.
- Support the Senior Project Manager in preparing, issuing, and negotiating monthly payment applications.
- Collect, collate, analyse and present monitoring data from active projects
- Assist with business development through site walkovers, client engagement, information gathering, assessing client’s requirements, and support in tendering and bid preparation.
- Ensuring adherence to Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) standards promote a strong on-site safety culture.
- Liaise with auditors and oversee implementation of corrective actions

• Assist in the development of the Integrated Management System
• Administer IMS procedures and ensure objectives and targets are met.
• Liaise with the company auditors and ensure execution of corrective actions.
Collaborate across UK business units-including Accounts, HR, SHE, design/technical, sales/marketing, drilling, monitoring and environmental services to build strong cross-functional relationships and support financial objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
A motivated and hardworking individual with good written and communication skills is essential.
- Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience supervising projects and site teams within the construction industry, or demonstrable equivalent experience
- Holds valid CSCS card
- Solid understanding of Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology or Civil Engineering principles.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently in challenging site environments.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage personal and team workloads effectively
- Proven experience in managing and coordinating others on-site
- Commercial awareness, ideally with working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 construction industry contracts
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and AutoCAD
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex or sensitive information clearly and confidently is an essential requirement
- Flexible and proactive, with strong problem-solving abilities
- Full UK Driving License
Working Conditions
This role is primarily site-based, with operations across the UK. The position may be based out of our Kings Langley, Hertfordshire office or Bilsthorpe, Nottingham office and yard depending on the closest office. Regular travel to client sites across the UK is required for meetings, site walkovers, inductions, and project briefings and the role will require regular use of VDU (Visual Display Unit).
You will work closely with WJ colleagues and clients on the installation of dewatering systems in a variety of environments, including both outdoor and indoor settings. These may include tunnels, adits, and shafts, which are often classified as low to medium risk confined spaces.
