Pay: £12.71 - £14.20 per hour

Hours: 40 hours per week (part time roles also available)

Sleep-in-rate: £4,160 per annum based on two sleep-ins per week

Within Reach is seeking compassionate, dedicated, and motivated Residential Children's and Young Adults Support Workers to join our team in Gloucester. This rewarding role involves providing high-quality care and support to the people we support living within our residential homes.

  • You will work closely with those who may have complex needs, developmental disabilities, behavioural challenges, or additional support requirements, helping to ensure their safety, well-being, and personal development.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide emotional support and positive behaviour management tailored to each person's individual needs.
  • Support children and young people with daily living activities, promoting independence and confidence.
  • Assist with meal preparation and mealtimes, ensuring nutritional needs are met.
  • Plan and facilitate engaging activities that encourage social development, life skills, and positive experiences.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing home environment.
  • Record care activities, incidents, and progress notes accurately in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the people we support to attend appointments, education settings, and community activities, while ensuring their safety, well-being, and supervision at all times.
  • Act as a positive role model and advocate for the young people in your care.

What we need from you

  • Previous experience within residential childcare, social care, supported living, home and community care, or similar care settings is desirable but not essential, as full training and support will be provided.
  • Experience supporting children or individuals with developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, autism, or additional needs is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • A compassionate, patient, and resilient approach to supporting young people.
  • A valid UK driving licence is preferred.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding, promoting welfare and always maintaining confidentiality.
  • Experience gained through customer-facing roles, education, youth work, hospitality, retail, coaching or similar people-focused environments may also be considered.
  • Personal caring experience, such as supporting a family member, is also valued.
