We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and organized marketing and business development professional to join our global marketing team, focusing on our dispute resolution division. The division operates in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, supporting market-leading teams across various legal areas including commercial litigation, international arbitration, public international law, white collar crime, investigations, trust and succession disputes, family, and employment law. Our work is largely international, with specialists located in Hong Kong, Singapore, Milan, London, New York, New Haven, Greenwich, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and the British Virgin Islands.

The global business development team plays a vital role in ensuring coordinated activity across key locations. This full-mix marketing and business development role supports our European teams. The ideal candidate is an ambitious self-starter with a passion for diverse activities, enjoying variety in their work. Typical activities include developing marketing and business development campaigns, producing pitches and credentials to secure new business, and supporting profile-raising initiatives for the division and firm.

This role is distinct from many law firm marketing and BD positions, as it is not narrowly focused on pitch production but is integral to helping our European lawyers win work from prospects, existing clients, and intermediaries. You should be a clear communicator, comfortable engaging with senior partners, new joiners, and management professionals. You will be proactive in identifying opportunities and persistent in executing ideas. Collaboration across marketing and business development disciplines is essential to deliver results for our disputes teams.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Supporting the DR Manager in all marketing and business development activities aimed at winning new work and expanding existing client relationships, including planning, advising, and opportunity conversion.
  2. Proactively raising market awareness and understanding of our client base through ideas such as client and market analysis, events, and webinars.
  3. Driving engagement with major campaigns and projects, especially those focused on crisis management and succession.
  4. Building relationships with external organizations like professional services firms and industry associations to enhance our brand and reputation.
  5. Preparing tailored pitch materials and credentials that highlight the firm’s strengths.
  6. Leading one of our core sector groups.
  7. Organizing and attending events to develop business opportunities.
  8. Managing the legal directories process for European and BVI dispute resolution teams.
  9. Collaborating with the CRM team to improve data quality and best practices in CRM (InterAction).
  10. Supporting central projects such as refining our pitching approach and client onboarding processes, with exposure to senior stakeholders.
  11. Fostering relationships with global marketing and BD colleagues to enhance collaboration.
  12. Managing MBD initiatives involving specialists in Digital, PR, Internal Communications, Campaigns, Brand, and CRM to support practice and sector groups.

The role may include additional tasks as required. Work hours are from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm with flexibility, including attending events and working with fee earners to meet deadlines. The position offers a hybrid working policy, requiring at least two days in the office per week, a 12-week probation period, and a 4-week notice period. Benefits include pension, private medical insurance, season ticket loan, gym discounts, holiday buy/sell, and more.
