You will work with children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, helping them learn, develop their abilities and raise self‑esteem. Skill set requirements:
  • Experience working with pupils who are autistic and with previous experience of this population.
  • Ability to communicate in a variety of ways, including Makaton, picture display symbols, PECS, and PODD, and experience working with non‑verbal pupils.
  • Ability to support pupils who display challenging behaviour and to understand the function of that behaviour.
  • Flexibility to work with pupils aged 4 through 11 years.
  • Creative lesson delivery with bespoke and accessible curriculum tools.
  • Aware of and able to apply autism strategies such as TEACCH, attention‑to‑autism, and PODD.
