As our Schools Safeguarding Officer, you will work closely with Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs), Head Teachers and the Head of Safeguarding to ensure robust and defensible safeguarding practices across our schools.

Responsibilities:

  • Support schools and ensure compliance with safeguarding legislation and internal policies.
  • Deliver training and develop programmes for DSLs and school-based staff.
  • Contribute to effective partnership working across departments within Witherslack Group.
  • Conduct safeguarding audits in schools, identify gaps and co‑operate with schools to produce action plans.
  • Advise DSLs on safeguarding record‑keeping, case management and local Safeguarding Partnership procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years experience as a DSL or equivalent senior safeguarding role.
  • Experience giving advice and support to DSLs/DDSLs, delivering training and carrying out audits.
  • Knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education, national safeguarding policy and partnership arrangements.
  • Proven advisory and training skills with strong communication, problem‑solving and report‑writing abilities.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and CPD in safeguarding.
