As a Pastoral Support Assistant you will help meet the emotional needs of young people with complex and challenging needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Social, Emotional and Mental Health, and Behavioural and Emotional difficulties. You will provide high standards of care, work with families, and develop individual programs that foster a positive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement pastoral care for each student.
- Support children in daily activities and behaviour management.
- Build relationships with families and liaise with multidisciplinary teams.
- Undertake assessments and contribute to care plans.
- Maintain accurate records and report on progress.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience working with young people with BESD or ASD in a school or care setting.
- Ability to listen, motivate, and work collaboratively in a team.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection legislation and multi‑agency working.
- NVQ Level 3 in Care or a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (ideal but not mandatory).
