For children with complex and challenging needs, the level of care and education must go above and beyond. With a high staff‑to‑child ratio and in‑house clinical teams, the Witherslack Group strives to achieve the best possible outcomes. Designated Safeguarding Leads play a crucial role in ensuring the children’s needs are fully recognised and comprehensively met.

Responsibilities

You will work as part of the leadership team and report directly to the Head Teacher. On a daily basis you will liaise with statutory and non‑statutory agencies, parents/carers and staff on matters of wellbeing, child protection and safeguarding, and will be a source of support, advice and expertise within the team.

Background & Context

Bescot Hall is a purpose‑built, brand new, state‑of‑the‑art school catering primarily for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, as well as for children with autism who have moderate speech and learning needs. The school provides education for up to 72 children aged 8 to 16.

Qualifications & Experience

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a Designated Safeguarding Lead role
  • Comprehensive portfolio of CPD related to safeguarding and child protection
  • Outstanding interpersonal and problem‑resolution skills
  • A genuinely empathetic approach
  • Full UK driving licence
