Common Grind Ltd specialise in contract catering and all things delicious. We are the caterers at one of the exciting and famous social media workplaces in London; this dynamic office is vibrant and forward-thinking, and we provide incredible food to match this ethos.
We are recruiting for an experienced Food Service Assistant to join our hard-working team, working in a busy self-service cafeteria.

We are strong believers in work/life balance. Our working hours are some of the best you’ll find in catering, with a Monday to Friday rota system, 40hrs per week:
- Variable shifts, early shifts: 6:30am – 3:00pm or 7:00am – 3:30pm
- Middle shift: 8:30am – 5:00pm
- Late shift: 12:00pm – 8:30pm
All sites are based in central London and can be easily accessible by public transport. Overtime is optional and always paid. Breakfast & Lunch / Lunch & Dinner break (depending on shift) are provided. Free meals are provided. We offer comprehensive training and development.

Who are we looking for?
Our Food Service Assistants work as part of a team to deliver superb customer service daily. They are responsible for ensuring our food is presented beautifully and that safety and standards are maintained to the highest level.
Day to Day Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Make sure that you are guest oriented at all times.
- Setting up and replenishing food as required.
- Ensure that all seating areas are correctly set-up and that they are clean.
- Serving customers courteously and efficiently in all areas.
- Monitor the guests entering and exiting the cafes.
- Accommodate any special guest needs or requirements (in line with set policies & guidelines).
- Ensure understanding of menu items, ingredients, allergens, and menu labeling.
- Promote a clean, safe, and neat environment for colleagues and guests.
- Ensure that all opening & closing checklists and schedules are followed and accurately completed.
- Ensure full areas of responsibility including seating area, fridges, and cupboards are clean, neat, and well stocked before, during, and after service hours.
- Follow correct reporting procedures for maintenance, cleaning, health & safety, food safety, and COSHH matters.
- Report any Health & Safety hazards to the FOH Assistant Manager.
Required experience:
- 1+ years’ experience in food hospitality. Experience in a self-service cafeteria is a bonus.
- Excellent command of the English language.
- The ability to cope in high-pressure busy environments.
- Bright & bubbly personality.
- Live within a commutable distance to Central London and must have the ability to get to work early in the morning if you are on our earliest shift (6:30am start).
- Must not be afraid of early starts (6:30am is the start time of the earliest shift) or later finishes (8:30pm is the finish time of the latest shift).
