OVERVIEW
Are you keen to join the staff team at Hatherop Castle School which focuses on the Adventure of Childhood? Your expertise as a SENCo will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational journey and well-being of every pupil with special educational needs.
As a strategic leader, you’ll ensure these pupils excel academically while also enhancing their social communication, organisation, and confidence. Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team and Teaching Staff to drive improvement across the school. You’ll manage and deploy support staff and resources effectively, monitor and evaluate teaching strategies, and ensure compliance with statutory requirements. Build strong relationships with parents and external organisations, and maintain high professional standards within the school community. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to teach Maths or English to KS2 or KS3 pupils.

Position: Full time, permanent role, term time only.

Job Description:
- To provide strategic leadership of the provision for pupils with special educational needs (SEND) in order to ensure that these pupils make excellent progress in academic attainment.
- To lead improvement across the school in ‘soft’ skills such as social communication, organisation and confidence in conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team and Teaching Staff.
- To lead, manage and effectively deploy support staff and resources.
- To lead, monitor and evaluate the development of learning and teaching strategies for pupils.
- To ensure that staff are provided with relevant information about and advice on, training relating to the support of these pupils.
- To ensure paperwork relating to SEND meets statutory requirements.
- To develop and maintain appropriate relationships with parents and with relevant external organisations.
- To take a full role within the school community including maintaining and modelling high professional standards.

Personal Specification:
Qualifications & Training
- Good Honours Degree with QTS or equivalent
- Evidence of further study or willingness to do so
- Other professional qualifications specific to support, teaching and testing pupils with SEND
- Inset relevant to current developments in Learning support and leading /developing Learning Support Teams
Experience:
- Varied and successful KS1, KS2 or KS3 experience across a range of learning needs.
- Understanding of examination concessions and assessments processes
