About the Role
Anaesthetists provide elective and emergency services across multiple specialities, including:
- General Surgery
- Orthopaedics and Trauma
- Gynaecology
- ENT
- Ophthalmology

- Paediatric Surgery (for children over two)
They also play a key role in resuscitation, stabilisation, and patient transfers to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Our combined medical and surgical High Dependency Unit has eight beds.
North of Scotland Retrieval Service
In April 2019, ScotSTAR opened a new North of Scotland critical care team and transfer/retrieval hub (Emergency Medical Retrieval Service North). Featured on Channel 4’s ‘Extreme Medics,’ it’s part of the Scottish Trauma Network, providing retrieval services for critically ill patients. Patients are stabilised by the Dr Gray’s team prior to retrieval. If the EMRS team is unavailable, an anaesthetist from Dr Gray’s Hospital may be required to carry out the transfer.
We are exploring flexible arrangements for remote and rural anaesthesia, with potential job-planned work in remote Community Hospitals in the Highlands and Islands.
Why Choose Dr Gray’s?
Located in Moray’s stunning landscapes, we offer an exceptional work-life balance. Our team includes specialists in regional anaesthesia, difficult airway skills, and pre-hospital medicine.
