About The Role
We are looking for a technical lead with a background in stream processing technologies. Our Stream Processing team is part of the Data Squad. We provide the tooling and infrastructure that allows Wise to process transfers in real time. Our platform enables services to perform calculations and make decisions in milliseconds, powering validation, fraud detection, and anti-money laundering checks. We also manage data movement into our data lake, supporting data-driven decisions across teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team, ensuring delivery of high-impact solutions.
- Contribute technically through hands-on engineering and systems operations.
- Collaborate with other leads, engineers, and product managers.
- Address big-picture challenges across analytics, engineering, and business domains.
Working Style
We emphasize automation, reusable design, and holistic ecosystem thinking. The lead will help sustain team growth by iterating on services, focusing on availability, security, and usability. The role requires analyzing complex requirements and delivering simple, effective solutions.
Minimum Requirements
- Strong development experience in Java and solid understanding of system design principles.
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or GCP, and infrastructure development.
- Knowledge of high availability, scalability, and security concepts.
- Experience with stream processing frameworks such as Kafka Streams or Flink, and stateful pipelines at scale.
Preferred Skills
- Passion for technology and user experience.
- Understanding of security principles and privacy considerations.
- Customer-centric decision-making.
- Ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly.
- Experience with configuration management, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, containers, and orchestration tools.
- Building infrastructure automation with Kubernetes operators.
Additional Information
Salary: Β£100,000-Β£125,000 + RSU
