As an engineer in the AML Risk team, you will help Wise detect and prevent money laundering, and support our mission of Clean Money without Borders. You will work closely with our cross-functional team of Product, Data Science and Analytics to fight crime and respond to evolving trends in Money Laundering.
Here’s how you’ll contribute and grow with us in the AML Risk Engineering team:
- Agile and Collaborative Environment: We work in 2-week sprints, planning projects quarterly or half-yearly. We value every team member's input, and you are encouraged to propose projects and contribute to setting our priorities.
- Impact-Driven Engineering: Your daily work will involve designing and implementing rules and features to maximise crime detection while ensuring the least possible impact on our customers. You will maintain our robust rules ecosystem, guaranteeing AML checks are completed within seconds.
- Cutting-Edge Technology: You will be integral to building a global money laundering detection system that leverages Machine Learning, LLMs, and real-time transaction monitoring at scale, aiming to identify suspicious activity early in the customer lifecycle.
- Ensuring Global Confidence: Your efforts will directly help ensure that regulators across the world are confident in Wise's commitment to fighting financial crime, supporting our mission of Clean Money without Borders.
Our Goals Are To:
- Build a global money laundering detection system leveraging Machine Learning, LLMs, and Real-time transaction monitoring at scale.
- Identify suspicious money laundering activity as early in a customer lifecycle as possible.
What do you need?
- A strong product mindset, prioritising work with the customers and operational teams in mind and making data-driven decisions.
- Great communication skills and the ability to articulate complex, technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
- Experience with Object Oriented Programming Languages (JVM based languages are a plus), Event Streaming Platforms, and microservices.
- Experience working with relational databases, query optimisation, and designing schemas.
- You enjoy writing testable code.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
- Hands-on knowledge of system integration patterns.
- You believe in and follow best coding practices, code reviews, and open feedback.
