Our Treasury Engineering squad plays a pivotal role in ensuring Wise remains financially resilient, compliant with global regulations, and capable of handling complex, real-time financial operations. We build the core infrastructure that safeguards customer funds, provides real-time insights into Wise’s global cash positions, and enables efficient foreign exchange risk management. The work we do directly influences how Wise protects customer money, optimizes liquidity, and executes trades worth hundreds of millions of pounds daily.
We’re looking for experienced Software Engineers with a strong product and engineering mindset to join our Treasury Engineering squad. The three core teams: Safeguarding, Treasury Ledger, and FX Risk tackle unique and complex challenges that are critical to Wise’s success.
What will you be working on?
- Safeguarding: Build and enhance scalable, reliable systems that ensure the safety of customer funds in compliance with global regulations. Develop processes and controls to mitigate financial and operational risks.
- Treasury Ledger: Provide real-time visibility into Wise’s global cash positions by processing financial events from customers and internal teams. Our data powers trading decisions worth tens to hundreds of millions of pounds, making reliability and accuracy paramount.
- FX Risk: Develop mission-critical services that calculate FX exposure, aggregate real-time market data from platforms like Bloomberg and Reuters, and ensure accurate hedging in collaboration with Data Science.
Qualifications

- Extensive experience and proven track record in software engineering, ideally with a focus on financial systems or markets (not hard requirement)
- Extensive experience working with microservices and distributed systems at scale
- Exceptional product mindset, able to balance customer-centric and data-driven approaches
- Expertise in messaging systems such as Kafka
- Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot
- Experience with both relational and non-relational database design
- Commitment to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
- Advocating for best practices in code quality, continuous delivery, and robust code reviews
