Overview
In this role you drive global regulatory remediation programmes, aligning Risk & Compliance with Product and Operations to ensure robust control across Wise’s growth. You will own governance, reporting, and external communications with regulators, while shaping the long-term remediation framework. Working across autonomous teams, you will challenge approaches, coordinate evidence, and present progress to senior stakeholders. This is a chance to directly influence regulatory outcomes and the company’s posture as it scales.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end design, governance and execution of global remediation programmes across multiple teams.
- Serve as primary point of contact for external regulatory examinations and manage evidence requests and regulator communications.
- Provide technical challenge on approaches, timelines and output quality; facilitate decision-making across stakeholders.
- Build and deliver executive reporting structures, risk registers, and progression metrics for the Board and regional committees.
- Navigate cross-functional alignment to reduce silos and secure engineering prioritisation for compliance-led process redesigns.
- Establish data-driven methodology to quantify compliance friction costs and inform strategic trade-offs with qualitative and quantitative storytelling.
Key requirements
- 8+ years leading complex programmes, remediations, or 1LOD risk & compliance in fintech, Tier-1 bank, or regulated financial institution.
- Highly organized with direct project/programme management experience and cross-stakeholder coordination.
- Deep domain expertise in FinCrime, AML, sanctions, KYC/CDD, and risk mitigation platforms.
- Proven track record interfacing with major regulatory bodies and navigating statutory exams or multi-jurisdictional lookbacks.
- Executive presence with ability to present to C-suite, Board members, and product leads without formal authority.
