Whether people and businesses are sending money to another country, spending abroad, or making and receiving international payments, Wise is on a mission to make their lives easier and save them money. As part of our team, you will be helping us create an entirely new network for the world’s money. For everyone, everywhere.
At Wise, we want to make money move across borders easily and eventually free. Our team contributes to this with words — and we still have work to do. We are looking for an Arabic Localisation Specialist to join our global localisation team. The ideal candidate must possess native‑level fluency in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA). The localisation team is passionate about the Wise mission and wants to make sure that more countries and customers hear about it. We want our product to be easy to use and accessible, and to speak to our customers as if it was written in their language.
Responsibilities- Lead the end‑to‑end localisation of the Wise App and web interface from English to Modern Standard Arabic, ensuring a natural, modern, and professional fintech user experience.
- Localise product, marketing, and support contents from English to Arabic, maintaining the correct meaning, context, and tone of the source text whilst adapting it to the local language.
- Partner with QA managers, product managers, engineers, and UX designers to perform thorough linguistic quality assurance (QA) and context testing, ensuring the app mirrors perfectly for RTL layout and readability.
- Proofread and edit translated contents for linguistic accuracy and clarity.
- Collaborate with other localisation team members to promote synergies between markets and refine the tools, workflows, or processes in use in the team.
- Leverage user feedback, app reviews, and product data to continuously iterate and improve the quality of our Arabic content.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and solve common internationalisation and layout issues specific to Arabic and RTL languages, such as mixed Arabic/English strings, numbers, currencies, dates, names, addresses, and mirrored icons.
- Partner and collaborate with external vendors and freelancers to ensure expectations regarding tone, style, and deliverables are crystal clear and consistently met, and evaluate and report on vendor quality for continuous improvement.
- Define and establish Wise’s Arabic voice, balancing modern financial terminology with local cultural sensitivity across all platforms.
- Define guidelines for gender representation in the Arabic UI, balancing grammatical constraints of the language with an inclusive, modern, and respectful customer experience.
- Act as the primary cultural and linguistic advisor for Wise’s expansion into Arabic‑speaking markets, championing the user experience and advising marketing, product, and engineering teams on regional perceptions of trust, UI design, and financial technology.
- Identify and address growth opportunities with Arabic audiences.
- You are an Arabic native speaker with a deep mastery of contemporary Modern Standard Arabic and have 2 to 3 years of experience in localisation.
- Your linguistic skills in Arabic allow you to effectively adapt your tone and style to suit product, marketing, and support contents.
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- You are familiar with CAT, TMS, and/or MT tools as well as best practices in quality management processes and workflows.
- You have strong attention to detail and are committed to providing high‑quality localisation.
- You have an analytical mind and can express it constructively to reach the best for customers.
- You manage your time efficiently and are used to working in a fast‑paced environment with concurrent deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Your cultural sensitivity and awareness allow you to accurately convey cultural nuances in your work.
- You have proven experience handling the structural and layout challenges of Right‑to‑Left and Bidirectional text formatting.
- You have at least a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Some extra skills that would be awesome include experience in the transcreation of marketing campaigns for Middle Eastern markets, knowledge of regional Arabic dialects to complement MSA marketing strategies, certification as a translator, and experience working in a global team.
