We’re looking for a Liquidity Director to join us and do things differently. As Wise continues to evolve and diversify its product offerings and risk management approach, centralising first line liquidity risk management becomes paramount to ensure alignment across teams and ensuring aligned financial risk management under BAU and stress scenarios.
Wise is now seeking a first line liquidity director with proven expertise in liquidity risk management, from supply to usage, who can work with cross functional treasury and product teams to define and implement a framework for sourcing, usage, allocation and costing. Collaborating across the risk, product and treasury teams the Liquidity Director will help to build a complete picture of our liquidity position on a current and forward looking basis. Helping to increase cost efficiency and stability, to facilitate instantaneous client transactions and clearly communicate availability of funds which are key to unlock customer growth.
What you’ll do:
- Work as part of a cross functional Liquidity team, including Analysts, Data Scientists, Product, Engineering, Functional Specialists and Controllers analytics, controllers with the aim of managing liquidity risk and having a positive impact on our customers through speed, price and convenience.
- You will contribute to the vision and direction of the liquidity team, and partnering with others, lead the development of Wise’s liquidity risk management strategy considering both current and future global regulatory obligations.
- Own the overall liquidity risk framework, developing and enhancing what exists and aligning with Risk Owners on their sub-elements and with Treasury Squad leads and ALCO on the overall framework.
- Ensure that risk owners and managers have set appropriate requirements to monitor the real time usage/availability of liquidity (and other key data points) and have aligned long term liquidity forecasts.
- Work with FX, Cash and Asset Management and other Treasury teams to develop an effective intraday liquidity management framework, with considerations for funding streams (i.e. repos), buffer optimisation, regional/entity liquidity needs/allocations.
- Stay at the forefront of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks affecting liquidity management in fintechs and banks.
Qualifications:
- Significant experience working across liquidity management in a neo bank and/or major fintech, ideally with some payments or global remittance experience.
- Confident communicator with an adaptable approach to applying knowledge.
- Expertise in key liquidity metrics and liquidity regulations.
- Proven understanding of operational liquidity e.g. cash flow management.
- Understanding of monetisation techniques for fixed income instruments such as implementation of Repos.
- Experience working with good governance and effective liquidity control frameworks.
- Ability to formulate internal policy and frameworks, specifically around liquidity allocation.
