We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Lead to join our API Experience team. You’ll lead and manage a team of engineers building the tooling and infrastructure that enables partners to securely integrate with Wise’s API. This is a unique opportunity to shape the developer experience for major enterprise partners directly impacting their success and accelerating Wise’s time to revenue.

Responsibilities

  • You will guide your team to deliver a world‑class developer experience built on three guiding principles:
  • Secure: Champion robust security measures like mTLS and JOSE to protect partner data and meet the stringent security requirements of banks and financial institutions.
  • Well‑Tooled: Own the development of our self‑service developer portal, streamlining processes for credential management and API monitoring.
  • Testable: Enhance our Sandbox environment to accurately mirror production, giving partners ultimate confidence before going live.

Qualifications

  • A bit about you:
  • You have proven experience in leading and mentoring software engineers.
  • You enjoy helping others grow and succeed.
  • You have a strong product and customer mindset and experience building customer‑facing products.
  • You possess strong technical expertise or a background in Java or similar languages and modern technology stacks.
  • You have experience working with and building distributed, high‑scalability systems and microservices architectures.
  • You’re a great communicator who can articulate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • You thrive in a collaborative environment and have experience working effectively with cross‑functional peers like designers, product managers and analysts.
