Company Description
Wise is one the fastest growing companies in Europe and we’re on a mission: to make money without borders the new normal. We’ve got 15 million customers across the globe and we’re growing. Fast.
Current banking systems don’t let us send, spend or receive money across borders easily. Or quickly. Or cheaply.
So, we’re building a new one.
Enter: our Global Product Tribe!
Job Description
The Global Product tribe at Wise owns nearly all aspects of the customer experience and core infrastructure powering the Wise Account, Wise Business, and Remittances (Transfer) products. We’re on a mission to build the world’s most global account—one that offers a truly local experience no matter where life or business takes our customers.
If you’ve used Wise, there’s a good chance you’ve spent 90% of your time engaging with products and experiences developed by teams in this tribe.
The tribe is organized into six key squads: Onboarding, Send, Receive, Spend, Account, and Grow—each responsible for a specific area of the product journey.
We’re looking for an inspiring and customer-obsessed engineering leader to join us—someone with a bias for action, a strong product mindset, and a passion for world-class user experiences. You’ll start by leading our Receive Squad, with the opportunity to grow your scope across more of the Global Product organization in the future.
About the Receive Squad:
The Receive Squad builds the products that allow Wise customers to get paid from anywhere in the world and fund their accounts and transactions. Our goal is to offer the fastest, most transparent, most convenient, and fairly priced ways for customers to receive money globally.
Today, we provide local account details in 10+ countries, and our PayIn platform processes over £200 billion annually in incoming payments. We're also laying the foundation for payment facilitation capabilities to support merchants and global businesses. As the world becomes more interconnected, our customers increasingly rely on Wise to handle all their payment needs through a single global account.
What You’ll Do:
- Drive the technical and product direction for engineering teams within the Receive Squad, aligning closely with product and design leads to build customer-first solutions.
- Be hands-on when needed—with a strong eye for system design, you’ll dive into technical details to help teams make smart architectural decisions and unblock complex challenges.
- Build and scale high-performing engineering teams that can support Wise’s continued hypergrowth and complex global operations.
- Unblock teams and enable them to move faster in an increasingly large and complex global organization by reducing inefficiencies, cutting unnecessary admin, and improving team focus.
- Navigate risk, compliance, and regulatory challenges while maintaining agility—working iteratively to release product improvements without compromising safety or speed.
- Collaborate closely with neighbouring tribes—including Regional (local payment schemes, regulators, tailoring product to local needs), Finance & Treasury (safeguarding, liquidity management, accounting & reporting), and Servicing (Financial Crime, KYC, and account monitoring)—to ensure alignment across Wise’s global platform.
- Influence and align with Wise’s broader technical and product vision across squads and tribes.
- Mentor engineering managers and technical leads, and create the conditions for autonomous, empowered teams to thrive.
- Champion a healthy engineering culture rooted in continuous improvement, technical excellence, and customer-centricity.
